An Act of Brilliance
All football fans know that if the kicker kicks the ball out of bounds on a kickoff the offense will get the ball automatically on the 40-yard line. If a player goes out of bounds and is the first one to touch the ball after coming back in it is a penalty.
However, if the player goes out of bounds and stays out of bounds and reaches for the ball that ball is considered out of bounds. Ty Montgomery of the Packers used that to his advantage. The returner realized that the ball was close to going out of bounds so he ran out of bounds and stretched back in leaving his feet out of bounds. Resulting in the ball being considered out of bounds and therefore being a penalty. Giving the Packers the ball on the 40 yard line.
