Caps Fall to Detroit 3-2 in Shootout
The Washington Capitals suffered a rare loss Saturday. Detriot jumped on the scoreboard first with a power play goal by Nielson. They would go up 2-0 in the second period with a goal by Tator. Sanford answered for the Caps with his 2nd NHL goal to make it 2-1 heading into the 3rd.
Winnik tied it up 2-2 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd to force OT. Neither team could seal the win in OT so the game went into a shootout. The shootout was highly competitive, but a save by Mrazek on Ovechkin won the game for the Red Wings. The Caps will travel to New York to take on the Rangers today at 12:30. Hopefully, they can bounce back with a win.
