Medal Wins for Arab Countries at Rio Games
Three Arab countries have won medals at the 2016 Summer Games, six days into the competition. Egypt has won two bronze medals for weightlifting at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Sara Ahmed won in the 69kg weight class, and Mohamed Ihab won in the 77kg group. Tunisia won a bronze medal in fencing with Ines Boubakri beating Russia’s Aida Shanaeva. She is the first North African woman to win a medal in fencing. Sergio Toma, a Moldovan representing the UAE, took a bronze in Judo in the 81kg weight division.
