Naomi Watts and Liev Shreiber Separate
Naomi Watts and Live Schreiber are separating after 11 years together. The couple began dating in 2005 but never married. They have two children, Alexander “Sasha”, 9, and Samuel, 7. “Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship,” the celebrity couple says in a joint statement Monday. The statement continued: “While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.”
The news certainly comes as a shock after Naomi and Liev made a glamorous appearance at the Venice Film Festival. The pair also put on an affectionate display at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month. They went hand-in-hand on the red carpet at the premiere of The Bleeder, which they are co-starring in. The biographical film is about heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner, and Naomi plays Liev’s third wife as he (portraying Wepner) prepares to fight Muhammad Ali in 1975. The couple was spotted together for the last time before confirming their split as they took their kids to school on September 13.
No other details were provided. Their split follows a series of high-profile breakups in 2016, including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
