Strasburg get shutdown, put on 15 day DL list.
Stephen Strasburg has been deactivated and put on the 15 day disabled list by the Washington Nationals. This is the second injury related leave of absence for the right handed pitcher this season. In June and July, he missed time due to back spasms and this stint will be due to elbow soreness.
The Nationals released a statement saying that the star pitcher was being shut down strictly as a precautionary measure, but it is concerning nonetheless. If Washington has any chance to win a World Series, it will rely heavily on the health and performance of Strasburg.
The good news is the Nationals have a sizable 8 game lead on Miami for the division lead, which should be no trouble in holding for the remainder of the regular season. Get well soon Stephen, DC needs you at your best for October baseball.
