Wizards Streak Ends with 140-135 Loss to Cavs

The Wizards started off the game slow, but midway through the 1st quarter they went on a 13-4 run to give them the lead. The Cavs stayed with them until the Wizards went on 7-0 run to end the 1st quarter ahead 32-26.

The Wizards headed into halftime with a narrow 57-54 lead. However, great play by Kevin Love gave the Cavs an 86-82 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.  And 8-0 run early in the 4th gave the Wizards a lead, but the Cavs retook control with a run of their own.

John Wall brought the Wizards back, and the Wizards and Cavs traded big shot after big shot. John Wall made two free throws as MVP chants rang through Verizon center to take a 120-117 lead with only 3 seconds left. Just when the game looked over LeBron James made miracle fade away bank shot three to tie it at 120-120 and force OT.

The game was tied 127-127 with 2:14 left in OT. Later, Irving drained a 3 with 35 seconds remaining to take a 136-133 lead. Gortat then made lay up to make it 136-135, but 2 free throws by Irving made it 138-135. Beal’s final shot didn’t fall and the Wizards lost 140-135. The home win streak is over, but the Wizards proved they can contend with the best.
