Islanders Beat Caps 4-3
The Capitals have now lost 3 of the last 4. The Islanders scored 2 goals early in the 3rd period only 43 seconds apart to down the Caps. Halak had 31 saves on 34 shots for the Islanders while Holtby stopped 27 of the 31 shots he faced. Justin Williams and Ovechkin gave the Caps their first two goals.
Ovechkin’s goal tied the game at 2-2, but it wasn’t enough. Burakovsky was able to make it 4-3 with under 7 minutes left giving the Caps a chance. The Caps even got two power play opportunities in the closing moments, but couldn’t capitalize. With the loss the Capitals drop to 20-9-4.
